Bodhi

I met Sensei in 1992 at UCLA, and have been his determined student and close friend ever since. At the temple, we edited his book Wakeful which I later self-published, and a couple years later I received precepts as a Buddhist teacher (Dhammacari) and lay minister (Bodhicari) with the dharma name “Bodhi”. I sat with him meditating hour-after-hour in the old garage meditation hall. I got his message. We spent years enjoying meditation, talking about life the world and the self, and traveling in casual search for aranya (a wilderness for meditation). After his retirement a couple of us have been watching out for him with regard to his residence, medical concerns, etc. Meanwhile, over the years, I’ve been sharing the message with students in Encinitas, Dana Point and Zoom (during COVID).
