Shibuya Sensei has taught meditation in Japan, India, and the US, after an adventurous youth spent desperately searching for true meditation.

He is the author of several published and many unpublished works including:

  • ONE-INCH BUDDHA (1978, 2011): first edition printed at Indo-san-nihonji, Bodghaya, India, 1978. (2nd edition available soon)
  • WAKEFUL (1996, 2000): his meditation textbook, which expresses the basic Theravada understanding in practical terms based on his personal experience. This excerpt described the initial confrontational stage of practice.
  • short writings: Tathagata (4/07), Breathing Buddha (4/07), Dharma Eye (4/07), Our Life (3/07), Nature Buddha (9/06), Muga(8/06)
  • Dissolution of Pain (1990, <2006): 1st edition was published in the Dharma Vijaya magazine, the revision is unpublished
  • When It Stops Sinking (<2007): unpublished epic/biography. Chapters available by request: 2:First Gate, 3:Home, 11:Roshi, 15:Wilderness, 16:Voice.
  • Dogen's Waka Poetry (<1999): unpublished
  • All is My Teacher (<1996): unpublished. This biographical excerpt gives his account of Eko Hashimoto Roshi, one of the three most renown Zen masters in Japan of the last 100 years.
  • Celestial Meditations (<1995): unpublished
  • Full Moon in Wilderness (?): unpublished
